Ranma 1/2 To Get “All-New” Anime Adaptation
Rumiko Takahashi’s classic Ranma 1/2 manga is getting an “all-new” new anime adaptation, Weekly Shonen Sunday has announced.
Not much else has been revealed at this time, but details will be dropped in an announcement event on July 17 6PM JST. It will be livestreamed on the official Ranma 1/2 X (formerly Twitter) account.
Ranma 1/2 debuted in the 36th 1987 issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday and ended in the 12th 1996 issue of the magazine. The titular character of the story is afflicted with a curse that causes him to transform into a girl when splashed with cold water. The manga originally inspired an 18-episode anime that began airing in 1989. This was followed by Ranma ½: Nettou-hen, which ran from 1989 to 1992 with 143 episodes.
