Samsung Launches New Odyssey G8 Series Gaming Monitor
Samsung Malaysia is officially launching two new Odyssey G8 Series gaming monitors. These monitors are the Odyssey G8, G80HS, and G80HF.
Starting with the Odyssey G8 G80HS, this gaming monitor features a 32-inch monitor but instead of 4K resolution, it is the first Odyssey monitor to feature 6K (6,144 x 3,456) resolution. Other physical aspects of the monitor include a 16:9 aspect ratio, a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz and a 1ms GTG response time. Not surprisingly, it is also a dual mode monitor, with the ability to switch down to a lower resolution and, more specifically, 3K (3,072 x 1,728) with a peak refresh rate of 330Hz. The response time remains the same.
The trade-off here is that the panel is IPS, and not OLED. That said, it is an HDR10+ certified gaming monitor, with an sRGB coverage of 99%. Of course, as it is a gaming monitor, the Odyssey G8 G80HS is also an NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible panel. Ports-wise, the monitor gets one DisplayPort 2.1 port, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a headphone jack, and a USB-B upstream port to support the two USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports.
The Odyssey G8 G80HS is already available in Malaysia and retails for RM6,299. However, as part of the Samsung Online Merdeka Screen and Sound Upgrade Promotion that runs between 1 August and 30 September 2026, consumers only have to pay RM4,699.
Moving on, the Odyssey G8 G80HF is the smaller monitor of the duo, sporting a 27-inch panel and, like the G80HS, has dual-mode resolutions and refresh rate. By default, the monitor is a 5K (5,120 x 2,880) panel with a 180Hz refresh rate, but with a quick switch, users can drop that down to QHD (2,560 x 1,440) and bump down the refresh rate to 360Hz.
Ports-wise, the G8 G80HF gets the same number of ports as its bigger sibling, which include one DisplayPort 2.1 port, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a headphone jack, and a USB-B upstream port to support the two USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports.
The Samsung Odyssey G8 G80HF is also available starting to day and retails for RM3,799, but as per the aforementioned promotion, users will be able to purchase this gaming monitor at RM3,099, from now until 30 September 2026.
