SEPHIRIA – Zelda-inspired Game Launched
Sephiria is a treat for old-school Zelda fans

When it comes to iconic and legendary RPG adventures, it doesn’t get more so than Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda, which originally released on the NES in 1986. Since that time, it has continued to inspire countless games over the years, from massive AAA titles to a plethora of indie darlings.
Perhaps the most inspirational era of The Legend of Zelda series is from the 80s and 90s, rather than the huge open-worlds that we find in the likes of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. After all, nothing quite hits those nostalgia feels like cosy sprite visuals and audio.
The game that is the main topic of discussion for this article is the indie title Sephiria, developed and published by Team Horay. What’s more, not only does this game have vibes of old-school Zelda, but it also has vibes of beloved indie roguelite titles such as Hades, Enter the Gungeon and Vampire Survivors.
Initially, Sephiria launched as a Steam early access title on April 3, 2025, but it recently celebrated its full “1.0” launch on July 31, 2026, and it’s fair to say that it’s been well-received by the community, overwhelmingly so.
Sephiria 1.0 brings more levels, including a final chapter and boss. New weapons, upgrades, abilities, an increased inventory, additional difficulties and more.
